Ballerina Birthday

Last year, my amazing sister-in-law gave birth to a little bundle of joy, Indigo-Rose. I cannot begin to describe how much I love this kid. She lights up my life. She’s one of those rare babies that is always happy. She sees her family and her little face lights up, revealing a toothy little grin with a gorgeous gap between her two front teeth which she’s inherited from her daddy.

I hope and wish that she loves me, and have pledged to shower her with gifts for the rest of her life. I think almost as soon as she was born Mummy (Hollie) and I were planning her 1st birthday. I know that’s ridiculous, but I am ridiculous. Hollie decided on a ballerina theme, and together we set about planning the details. Hollie looked after the food, which included individual chocolate mousses, oreo pops, cupcakes, coconut ice (I ate so much of this….yum) and an incredible pink ruffle cake from another fabulous Auntie.

For the décor, we decided on a pink, white and mint theme with hints of gold. We set up a frame structure which was draped in white and had pink and mint paper lanterns hanging overhead. Then we put tutus on…well…everything. The chairs, the food buffet table and even personalised bottles of water. Pink polkadot plates and chevron print napkins made pretty place settings, with a milk and cookie drink for each little darling. Glass drink dispensers were filled with pink lemonade and placed on vintage desks.

We also included some games for the adults, giant chess and noughts and crosses. The best thing was when Indie-Rose arrived in a tutu that was so big she could hardly walk in it. I got to many delicious cuddles with the little princess and although she had no idea what was going on, I’m sure I saw her incredible blue eyes light up when she saw all of the pretty details. If not, it was still fun for me!

So – happy birthday Indie-Rose. I love you more than you will ever know!
